ADVANCED CRISIS (HOSTAGE) NEGOTIATION FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT

OBJECTIVE - This 24-hour course emphasizes the negotiation skills necessary to work barricade, suicide and domestic incidents. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding motivation, communication principles and the negotiation process. This course is a must for any hostage negotiator who has not had a crisis/suicide intervention course. The class size is limited to 20 attendees.

  • The negotiator's problem in perspective
  • Profiling sieges
  • Crisis intervention including active listening
  • Suicide intervention and suicide-by-cop
  • Negotiating with paranoid schizophrenics
  • Negotiating with depressed persons
  • Role playing
  • Case studies including the instructor's participation in the incidents at Ruby Ridge, Idaho; Waco, Texas and the Atlanta Penitentiary
  • Drugs, alcohol and the negotiation process
  • Selected negotiation topics

NEGOTIATION FOR BUSINESSPERSONS

This course or presentation may be varied in length from an hour to several days to meet your needs. Mr. Lanceley will provide a stimulating change of pace for your conference by presenting fascinating, amusing, outside-of-industry examples of the similarities between law enforcement and your business negotiations.
